KHAJURAHO Dancing Queens

Check out these babes - the rude, crude and very suggestive ladies of the Khajuraho temple complex.






Many centuries old, but not pre-dating the Kama Sutra, historians aren't sure why so much naughtiness was carved into such reverential buildings.






Whatever the reason, they are great fun, the almost Carry On expressions, especially from the curious handmaidens and attendants. Even a blushing elephant gets an eyeful!








The craftsmanship is superb, the figures' anatomies so precise - sinuous musculature and soft pot bellies. It is a real labour of love, and lust.

And there were monkeys.





We also had a nice lunch in Khajuraho, prepared and served at the home of local artist Dilip Singh and his lovely wife. Their generosity and warmth was very touching, their decor an intriguing artistic mix, but sadly no filth.
