Michael Jackson and Harry Potter had disappeared into the night, so we listened to Matar's singing and stories while he made curry and rice and chapatis and chai for dinner.

After a fine, blazing day in the desert, the sun went down over the dunes and we settled back to watch the stars in a clear, black sky over the cold, silent sands.
Matar was a great guy. The story of his arranged marriage was intriguing as it was entertaining: the whole saga of his dad approaching the potential bride's family, the two families planning the whole thing out, the 600-guest wedding day, the expense (500kg of chapati flour) and Matar's finally seeing his wife for the first time, AFTER the ceremony was over.
Fortunately, he found her beautiful, which must have been a relief.
Sunrise found Jacko and Harry back from a night out with their friends.
We struck camp, saddled up these strange creatures and plodded back to civilisation and more curry and rice and chapatis and chai, and to meet up with Little Johnny, who took us back to town.
